The Wolf is Coming Ch. 49

When Emma finally got home, it was almost dark.

The house was decorated with lights and colorful decorations, the joyful and lively Christmas music was pouring out from the speakers, and the aroma of food could be smelled at the door.

Mrs. Granger was waiting for her at the entrance.

"Hermione baby, why are you back so late? Mrs. Smith arrived earlier than you." Mrs. Granger kissed Emma's red face, then looked behind her, "Are you alone?"

"Don't look at mum, Abraham had some problems in the wizarding world, and he's busy dealing with it now, so he can't come." Just like Hermione in the original book, Emma subconsciously concealed the dark side of the wizarding world from Mrs. Granger.

"Oh, what a pity! Christmas Eve is so busy!" Mrs. Granger tidied Emma's hair that was blown by the wind, "Go wash your hands quickly, our Christmas Eve dinner is about to start."

Emma agreed, but ran back to the room holding her coat pocket.

She took the doll drawn with pebbles out of her pocket and looked at it carefully. Because she had carried it all the way, the doll had become warm and shone gently under the light.

Emma fumbled with the doll, and a slight arc appeared at the corner of her lips.

This was the first gift she received after coming into this world.

She stared at the doll for a while until Mrs. Granger's urging voice came from outside the door, "Hermione baby, are you ready? Our feast is about to begin!"

"Yes, coming!"

*knock* *knock* *knock*

In the sound of knocking, Emma was finally pulled from the dream into reality.

She went to bed too late last night, and she sat up from the bed in a daze, almost falling asleep again while hugging the quilt.

But the knocking outside the window continued, as if it would last forever if the window was not opened. Emma yawned, then jumped off the bed and ran to the window in her fluffy cotton slippers.

Pulling open the heavy curtains, through the misty window glass, a snow-white street scene came into view.

It was snowing.

In the flying snow, an owl with a big package hanging on its feet seemed to be frozen and was knocking on her window mechanically. Emma quickly opened the window and let the poor owl in to warm it up.

The package brought by the owl was filled with Christmas gifts from wizard friends, and Emma opened the package one by one with interest.

The hairpin that was particularly girly should have been given by Ginny, and this big bag of Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans should make Ron short of money for a while.

Wow, she had been living as Hermione for almost a year, and her top student personality had not collapsed yet?

Harry actually gave her a super thick book "On the Magical Use of Spells in Daily Life".

Putting the Christmas gifts aside, Emma filled the package again– that was the return gift she had prepared for her friends.

"Hey, poor little thing, since there is really no smart owl like you in the Muggle world, please help bring some more things back." Emma smiled hoarsely at the owl.

The owl, who was almost frozen just now, showed a look of despair, but a few minutes later, under the temptation of Emma's grilled sausage and dried fish, he grabbed the package that was obviously heavier than when he came, and stumbled back.

Emma yawned again, and her eyes fell on the little doll painted with pebbles at the head of the bed. Thinking of Abraham, the giver of this gift, Emma couldn't help but worry about his injury.

Wounds caused by Dark Arts should be difficult to treat... Perhaps, she should go see him.

In the afternoon, the sky finally cleared up temporarily.

Emma hesitated for a long time, and finally went out with a small bag on her back.

She stuffed some commonly used medicines into the bag. Although she knew that these would not have much effect, and Mrs. Granger's newly baked cookies were also put into it by Emma. With some miscellaneous things, the small bag suddenly became heavy.
