Daily Life in the Pet Shop Ch. 192

"Wait, I remember now!" Fang Yue walked over with a mountain of skewers, slammed the plate down on the table, and pointed at Du Qianze. "You lied to me. That story's just a plot from one of your dramas! I really thought it happened!"

"Dramas are based on real life too, so it still kinda counts as true," Du Qianze replied calmly. Since Fang Yue used to say she watched all his shows, it wasn't surprising she figured it out.

"I was so heartbroken and you still lied to me. No way, not okay." Fang Yue slammed a can of beer down in front of him. "You have to chug this whole thing to apologize."

"Alright." Du Qianze popped the tab, ready to drink, but Fang Yi stopped him and said he'd do it instead.

"Nope. I want him to drink it. You're both bullying me. I'm gonna go home and tell my mom..." Fang Yue trailed off—and then she actually started crying.

"It's okay, it's just one can." Du Qianze took the beer, chugged it in one go, and set the empty can down in front of her.

"You drank it, hehe. I'll drink with you. I'll drink three." Fang Yue smiled when she saw him finish, then grabbed three cans and lined them up in front of her. She popped one open, chugged it, and reached for the next.

"Xiao Yue, don't drink so fast—have some skewers," Fang Yi said, handing her some.

"No. My idol chugged it in one go, I'm doing the same." Fang Yue ignored Fang Yi's warning, downed the other two cans, and dropped the empty ones on the table. Then she flopped over.

"She drunk already?" Du Qianze walked over and checked, helping her lie down in a more comfortable position.

"She's usually tipsy after one can. Downing three like that means she was just holding a lot in. Let her be for now. Let's just finish the food before we head out." Fang Yi glanced at the skewers—beer could be refunded, but not food. Would've been a shame to waste it.

"We're staying to finish eating?" Du Qianze looked surprised. Shouldn't they be taking Fang Yue home now?

"She's asleep anyway—same wherever she is. Let's eat fast, then carry her back. Who knows how much she ordered. Would be such a waste not to eat it," Fang Yi said, taking off his jacket and draping it over Fang Yue before heading to the stall to get the rest of the skewers.

Turned out she hadn't ordered that much—probably didn't plan to eat much herself. Fang Yi and Du Qianze didn't take long to finish everything. After that, Fang Yi carried Fang Yue home. On the way, she mumbled some drunk talk now and then—sometimes calling for her little apprentice, sometimes calling Naima, asking Naima to comfort her.

At two in the morning, Du Qianze was woken up by his phone. The caller was someone he barely ever talked to—Su Ran.

After picking up, Du Qianze said a couple of words, then got Fang Yi up and told him to come open the door with him. Su Ran was waiting at the front gate.

"Why are you here this late?" Du Qianze was half confused, half helpless. He and Su Ran weren't close—not close enough for a middle-of-the-night visit, and both of them knew it.

"Um..." Su Ran kept his head down. "Can we go inside and talk?"

Fang Yi glanced behind Su Ran. He didn't bring any weapons, and no one was with him—he really came alone. So Fang Yi opened the door and let him in, then locked it again.

"What is it?" Du Qianze poured a glass of water and set it in front of Su Ran. He hoped Su Ran had come for something urgent, or he was seriously going to lose it.

"Is Xiao Yue doing okay?" Su Ran didn't answer his question and suddenly brought up Fang Yue.

"She's fine. Why are you suddenly asking about her?" Du Qianze asked, clearly puzzled.

"I came here for her. Yesterday she told me she'd told you guys everything," Su Ran said out of nowhere, then pulled a laptop out of his bag and told Fang Yi, "I play the same game Xiao Yue does. I go by the name Liu Piaoxu. I'm her apprentice."

"A girl account?" Du Qianze asked, totally stunned.

"Yeah." Su Ran nodded, glanced at Fang Yi, then explained, "My sister taught me how to play the game, but I suck at it and can't beat monsters. Since I just play to k**l time and don't care about stats, she gave me a low-level account on an old server. I've just been using that one to do quests and chill. I never joined any events. One time when I was doing a quest, she kept helping me out and was super nice. Later, she even took me in as her apprentice."

"How did you know that person was Xiao Yue?" Fang Yi had been listening the whole time, fists clenched tight. If it weren't for Du Qianze being there, he probably would've punched Su Ran already. This guy had lied and made Xiao Yue sad for so long.

"Last time we were filming the show, I went to the pet shop to buy something and saw her playing the game. That's when I realized," Su Ran answered honestly.

"Why didn't you tell her who you were? You think lying to her is fun or something?" Fang Yi slammed his fist on the table. The water cup on it shifted and half the water spilled out.

"I actually liked my master from the beginning. When I realized it was Xiao Yue, I wanted to get to know her more. Then after a while, I just couldn't bring myself to say anything. I was afraid she'd get mad, and I didn't know she liked me too," Su Ran said, shaking a little at Fang Yi's punch, but still bravely added, "Brother, if you're that mad, you can hit me. Just not the face, okay? I'm still filming these days."

"Don't call me that. I'm not your brother," Fang Yi yelled at him.

"I swear, I really didn't know she liked me. If I'd known, I would've confessed to her already. I've always wanted to, but I didn't dare. I was scared she'd ignore me if she found out I'd lied for so long," Su Ran said seriously. Du Qianze had been watching his face the whole time and figured he was probably telling the truth—Su Ran's acting wasn't that good.

"Get out. I don't want to see you," Fang Yi said coldly. Knowing Su Ran had messed around with Fang Yue's feelings and made her so heartbroken, he couldn't stand to even look at him.

"How is Xiao Yue? Did you guys blame her? Please, can I just see her for a second?" Su Ran looked at them pleadingly.

"No. She's not doing okay. She definitely doesn't want to see you right now. She already deleted her account in the game. You two are done. There's no more contact. So don't waste your energy trying to lie to her again," Fang Yi snapped. He couldn't believe how Su Ran could treat Fang Yue like this. If he really liked her, why didn't he respond when she confessed? Clearly, he didn't care about her at all.

"She deleted her account? Why?" Su Ran looked totally shocked when he heard that Fang Yue had deleted her game account.
