The Goofy Spring Breeze Blows Everywhere, Geto's Sister is Truly Impressive Ch. 15
"Hey, hitchhiking isn't free, comrade." With quick, precise movements, Chihori grabbed the snake right behind its head before it could react, lifting it up. "Where are you from, and where are you going?"
System: [Uh... You picked it up when you first ran through that dense forest. It must've been hanging from a tree branch at the time.]
And then, it got swept up by a literal whirlwind of a girl, speeding through at 270 km/h all the way to Kawasaki City!
Chihori: "..."
Chihori (benevolently): "Alright, little snake. You wanna go back, or are you settling down here?"
This wasn't 'The Legend of Xu Xian'—the snake obviously didn't talk. It just flicked its tongue.
(*Xu Xian, is a main character of the Legend of the White Snake, one of China's four great folk tales.)
Chihori thought for a moment. "I still have time to check out the milk factory, so I might as well take you home first." With that, she made a sharp turn and blasted off at high speed again.
In a quiet corner of the small park, there were no spectators—except for one black-haired kid who had been picking up a ball.
He stood frozen in place, watching in absolute shock as a silver-haired girl appeared out of nowhere like the wind—and then vanished just as fast. His pupils practically quaked in his skull.
"Junpei? Where'd you go?"
A voice called him back to reality. The black-haired boy, Junpei Yoshino, blinked a few times before turning around and answering, "I'm here, Moji."
His friend, a short kid wearing a sunhat, jogged over. "What took you so long to get the ball?"
"I..." Junpei opened his mouth, but as a kid, he didn't have the words to fully explain what he had just seen. So, he just said it straight, "I saw someone carrying a snake suddenly appear and then disappear—just like a superhero."
Moji stared at him, then burst out laughing. "Haha! What, like that movie we watched last night?"
Junpei: "No, it was—"
Before he could finish, a voice suddenly interrupted him.
"Hey. Give me that ball."
A chubby boy, round and heavyset, stood in front of them with two lackeys at his sides. He spread his legs apart, blocking their way with a threatening stance. "I wanna play with it."
Junpei tightened his lips and said in a low voice, "This is my ball."
"Yeah? Well, now it's mine." The fat kid didn't even bother being polite. He tilted his head up. "Hurry up, monkey. I saw you playing with it earlier." His voice took on a deliberately mean tone. "It's just a dumb ball, it's not like I won't give it back."
Moji, wearing his sunhat, tugged at Junpei's sleeve nervously. "Uh... maybe we should just let him have it? We can go play on the slide instead..."
Junpei clutched the ball tighter. It was a birthday present from his mom. He didn't want to give it away.
—And besides, something about this fat kid screamed "I definitely won't give it back."
So, Junpei hesitated for a moment, then stood his ground. "...No. This—this is my ball," he said firmly, lifting his head. "I won't give it to you."
Before he even finished speaking, the fat kid immediately picked up on the defiance. His face twisted into a scowl, and he kicked a rock at his feet, motioning for his two lackeys to step forward.
Moji clutched onto Junpei, scared out of his mind, wanting to run. But the two older boys were way faster and stronger than these two little kids. They lunged forward and pinned them down!
"What are you doing?!" Junpei's voice trembled as he shouted, but the fat boy just kicked him hard and snatched the ball away.
But he wasn't done yet.
"You're really gonna give me attitude over a stupid ball? Do you even know who runs the playground here?!" The fat kid grabbed a handful of dirt and shoved it all over Junpei.
Kids could be just as cruel as adults—sometimes even worse.
Junpei kicked his legs, struggling, but they smeared mud all over his face, his clothes—even tried shoving some into his mouth.
The two lackeys snickered while the fat kid kept running his mouth. But suddenly, he stopped, looking confused. "Huh? What's in this dirt?"
Instead of throwing more, he got curious and started digging through the mud.
What he pulled out was... a long, finger-like object wrapped in layers of yellow talisman paper, covered in strange symbols. Even after being buried in the rain-soaked dirt, the talisman paper remained weirdly dry and pristine.
"What the heck is this?" The fat kid's curiosity spiked. Without hesitation, he started peeling off the layers of talisman paper.
The two lackeys were still holding Junpei and Moji down, but they also leaned over, their eyes full of curiosity as they stared at whatever was hidden inside.
And then—their expressions changed.
Fear twisted their faces. One of them stammered, voice shaking, "W-wait... behind you... b-behind you...!"
The fat kid looked up. "Huh?"
In the next second—
A massive, grotesque monster lunged forward and swallowed him whole—along with the cursed finger.
"——!!!"
The terror was so overwhelming that they couldn't even scream.
The two lackeys' eyes went wide in horror. They immediately let go of Junpei and Moji, even shoving them aside before scrambling to escape in a blind panic.
Junpei and Moji stumbled forward, falling to the ground.
But they weren't safe.
The monster's writhing tentacles lashed out, snatching up the two fleeing boys. With its massive mouth, it tossed them in and devoured them.
Junpei's whole body trembled as he forced himself to get up. He reached for Moji, desperate to run away together.
But Moji had hit his head on a rock—he was unconscious. His small body lay limp on the ground.
"...Moji... Moji!!"
Junpei shook his friend desperately, but out of the corner of his eye, he saw the monster slowly turning its hideous, bloated face toward him.
A tentacle shot forward—toward him.
Junpei reached for Moji, but the tentacle coiled around him first. He couldn't stop it—he watched helplessly as his best friend was lifted into the air and swallowed whole.
His breath caught. His chest tightened. Tears of pure fear and helplessness spilled down his cheeks.
He didn't understand.
Why was this happening? Why was there a monster here?
Junpei could only stare in horror as the monster raised another tentacle—this time aimed at him.
And then—
