The King of Curses Can't Stop Me from Becoming an Idol Ch. 43
Saki: "......"
"Your sportsmanship is even worse than mine!" Saki criticized him with disgust.
Uraume couldn't hear what Sukuna was saying, but judging from Saki's one-sided conversation, they figured out what was going on. Without a word, they broke up their straight and played the lowest card they had.
"A four," he quietly laid it down.
Saki held her own 4, sighed, and said with a heavy heart, "Pass."
Silence fell—tonight's Cambridge was especially quiet.
"See? We lost. Should've never listened to you. We finally had a bomb and you wasted it."
"With that crap way you play, you'd have lost no matter what."
"Still better than you. Who the hell holds onto a 4 as their last card?"
"Have you already forgotten how you ended game two with a pair of 3s?"
Saki and Sukuna started arguing, ripping into each other's garbage card skills.
"You get in here right now—I'll play against you myself and show you who really sucks," Sukuna suddenly snapped.
"Bring it on," Saki shot back and instantly threw her soul into Sukuna's innate domain.
This place was technically Sukuna's inner world, so as long as he wanted, it was nothing for him to conjure up a spare deck of cards.
The two of them immediately jumped onto the giant spinal bone inside the domain, sat cross-legged, and started their match—both playing hard.
Not only were their card skills equally bad, their manners were just as awful. When one won, they mocked like crazy; when one lost, they threw tantrums. By the time the game dragged on, both were fuming—and eventually, they went straight to throwing punches.
The result of that fight? Sukuna got completely beat up. Saki's clothes were shredded, and she ended up robbing him of his own outfit.
After the scuffle, the two sat back down and resumed playing cards.
Sukuna just refused to lose. He couldn't accept that he was worse at cards than her. Saki, on the other hand, had never found anyone else worse than herself—so playing him was the only time things ever felt close.
They ended up playing all the way through the morning.
Uraume watched the girl sitting still and silent, not daring to interrupt. When noon rolled around, they quietly headed to the restaurant to get her lunch.
But as soon as they stepped out of the elevator, they ran into a familiar face.
It was Mahito.
"You're the one who came to see me?" Uraume wasn't surprised to run into someone they knew.
"Geto already went back to Tokyo," Mahito shrugged helplessly. "Said his phone got stolen and he had to rush back and handle some stuff early."
None of the other special-grade cursed spirits were willing to come, so Mahito ended up being the one sent.
They didn't know Kenjaku's true identity—but none of them really cared anyway. It was just a temporary alliance.
Uraume didn't press that issue and walked toward the restaurant as they asked, "So what message did he want you to deliver?"
Mahito followed.
"He wanted me to ask how much you've told Sukuna about his vessel's secrets. Just so he can be mentally prepared."
"I told him everything I knew," Uraume replied without a hint of hesitation.
"Wow, you're not holding back at all," Mahito sounded genuinely surprised.
"I made a binding vow with Gojo Satoru. I can't lie about this," Uraume explained truthfully.
"What about the plan to infiltrate Jujutsu High later?" Mahito pressed on.
"Haven't said a word. You can proceed as planned," Uraume answered honestly.
"Really?" Mahito double-checked.
"I need Master Sukuna's fingers. Of course I wouldn't get in your way on that. No need to worry—our goals are still aligned," Uraume replied calmly. "But since Master Sukuna has accepted Saki as his vessel, I won't be taking part in any more assassination plans against her. You guys better not try anything either."
"Yeah, yeah, I'll pass that on to Geto," Mahito said breezily. Then, out of curiosity, he asked, "But seriously, that girl doesn't even seem human. Aren't you worried that if she eats all the fingers, Sukuna might still get suppressed?"
"No, that's not just a 'what if.' I actually think it's highly likely Sukuna won't win control over the body."
Uraume fell silent. As much as he wanted to have blind faith in his master, deep down, even he felt Sukuna was probably going to lose this one.
"Then we'll have to find a way to make her agree to a binding vow that gives Master Sukuna the advantage," he said calmly.
"Ha, just what I was thinking," Mahito replied with a grin. "Man, I can't wait to see what happens. If it works, with Sukuna's power and that girl's body, it'll be a total stomp."
By the time they finished talking, they had reached the buffet area of the restaurant.
"Well, I'm heading out. I'll come find you again if anything comes up," Mahito said, deciding to take his leave.
Uraume didn't reply. He was already focused on picking out sushi—Saki had said in the morning that she wanted sushi for lunch.
Mahito didn't mind. He walked out on his own—only to freeze in place the second he stepped out of the restaurant.
Saki was coming out of the elevator.
She had ended her card match with Sukuna not long after Uraume left. When she noticed he wasn't around, she figured he'd gone to get lunch. But suddenly, she wasn't in the mood for sushi anymore, so she came down herself.
"Mahito? What are you doing here?" the girl asked, surprised.
Mahito's mind flashed with a million thoughts in an instant, then he decided he still couldn't blow his cover. He put on a smile and said, "I came to see you."
At the same time, Uraume immediately picked up on the situation. Without hesitation, they set down the tray and slipped out through another exit of the restaurant.
They were planning to go out and buy sushi to avoid being suspected of meeting up with Mahito.
"You came to see me?" Saki looked a bit shocked.
"I went to your place, but you weren't home. So I went to your company instead. The staff said you're dropping a new single and came to Okinawa to film the MV, so I came over here," Mahito explained.
"I didn't know which room you were staying in, so I decided to wait for you near the restaurant. Didn't think I'd actually run into you."
"I've never seen you film an MV before. Can I come with you and watch? I won't get in the way of your work."
The more he talked, the more natural it sounded—like that was really how it all went down.
