The King of Curses Can't Stop Me from Becoming an Idol Ch. 53

"I'm off." With that, she took off running, disappearing like a gust of wind.

Gojo went quiet.

She really was full of energy.

...

The drive from Jujutsu High to their apartment usually took about thirty minutes. For Saki, running back only took three or four.

Uraume and Mahito were both at home, sitting tensely in the living room. When the girl pushed the door open and walked in, both of them instinctively stood up.

"Lady Kiki, what happened to you?" Uraume looked surprised at her dusty, disheveled appearance.

"Did something go wrong?" Mahito asked cautiously.

"Don't get me started." Saki immediately launched into a rant. "I had just gotten to the school when there was an invasion, so I helped chase down the intruders."

"If I'd known, I wouldn't have gone..."

"No, wait—I had to go. If I didn't, Fushiguro and the others might've gotten hurt."

She rambled on and on, not getting to the part Uraume and Mahito actually cared about.

"Who was it? Who'd dare invade Jujutsu High?" Mahito tried steering the conversation toward what he wanted to know.

"I'm taking a shower first. I'll tell you after that," Saki said, clearly not in the mood to keep talking. But she did pull out the finger and the seed from her pocket.

When Uraume saw that the finger had been brought back, they were instantly satisfied. Uraume couldn't care less about what happened to Kenjaku and the others.

Mahito's eyes, on the other hand, were glued to the seed. He could feel Hanami's aura from it—no, that was Hanami.

What the hell?

"Uraume, help me plant this seed," Saki said casually.

"Where did it come from?" Mahito quickly asked.

"It dropped from a special-grade cursed spirit I fought," Saki answered offhandedly. "No idea what it'll grow into, let's just try planting it."

Her voice faded as she walked into the bedroom.

Mahito stared at the seed in Uraume's hand, falling into a long silence. Then he reached out and took it, examining it closely to confirm what he already suspected.

—This was Hanami.

"Lady Kiki told me to plant it," Uraume reminded him, signaling for the seed to be returned.

Mahito silently handed it back.

Uraume took the seed, then dug out a palm-sized flowerpot from the cabinet. It had belonged to a cactus the girl had killed before. They brought the pot downstairs to dig up some soil from the greenery outside.

By the time the girl finished showering, the seed was already planted in the pot.

Still damp and steamy from her bath, Saki excitedly walked over to the table. She leaned her chin on her hands, peering at the pot. "How long do you think it'll take to grow?"

Uraume and Mahito both shook their heads—they had no idea.

"Sukuna, Sukuna, do you know what this thing is?" she asked Sukuna curiously.

"How the hell would I know?" Sukuna said, exasperated.

"Aren't you supposed to be the King of Curses?" Saki shot back like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

Sukuna ignored her.

Saki was used to his attitude by now and didn't take it personally. She simply placed the pot on the windowsill, figuring they'd find out once it grew.

"Kiki, was Jujutsu High invaded by a special-grade cursed spirit?" Mahito walked over again, trying to ask about what had happened.

Saki heard the question and gave a brief rundown of what went down at the school.

When Mahito heard that she'd only chopped off Jogo's head without landing a final blow to destroy him, he secretly let out a breath of relief. He figured there was a good chance Jogo was still alive.

As for Hanami, he guessed that maybe the girl's inability to use cursed energy had let them survive by luck—and because her power was way beyond standard, that's why Hanami had been turned into a seed.

But either way, being alive was already a win.

He sighed, feeling a bit bad for Jogo and Hanami for having to be part of that mission. But then, thinking about his own situation, he figured he should probably feel sorry for himself first.

"Nothing to do this afternoon—Mahito, let's play Landlord!" the girl suddenly suggested.

Mahito: Yeah, definitely gotta feel sorry for myself first.

Gojo had been so busy that day he didn't even make it back. It wasn't until the next evening that he finally came back looking drained—and went straight for dinner.

Saki immediately asked about the outcome of yesterday's break-in.

"They're still arguing." Gojo didn't bother hiding anything. Just three words, straight to the point, summed up what was going on with the supervisory department.

Since the incident, the supervisory department had held several back-to-back meetings, all centered on how to deal with Sukuna's vessel.

Everyone had basically split into two camps—one pushing to kill the girl no matter what to keep the jujutsu world safe, and the other pushing to win her over and avoid provoking anyone again.

Gojo honestly suspected that the people in the second camp were just scared out of their minds.

"Sure, I wrecked some buildings, but I also handled the intruders and even got the finger back," Saki tried to defend herself. "Plus, I saved two people."

"If Sukuna hadn't helped, those two warehouse guards would be dead by now. That should count for something, right? Like, at least cancel out the damage."

"Sukuna actually helped you save someone?" Gojo looked a bit stunned. He hadn't checked on the injured—just knew none of them died.

"Yeah, 'cause he was in a rush to get me to retrieve the finger," Saki nodded.

Gojo got it now, then kept explaining, "The real issue isn't the property damage. It's that you barged into the Tomb of the Star, and they think you tried to kill Tengen. And..."

"Who's Tengen? I've never even met the person," Saki cut him off, unable to hold it in.

"A jujutsu sorcerer with an immortality technique. He's in charge of all the bases and the barrier systems that help support the assistant supervisors. Pretty high-ranking," Gojo explained simply. "If he dies, the entire jujutsu society would pretty much fall apart."

His tone didn't exactly ooze respect, but he still acknowledged how important Tengen was.

"I really didn't mean to," Saki said, clearly frustrated. "Sukuna gave me directions, and those two special grade curses really were over there."
