The King of Curses Can't Stop Me from Becoming an Idol Ch. 54
"And then there's the fact that you took Sukuna's finger with you, which makes it look like you're siding with him," Gojo went on, pointing out another key issue. "Also, that volcano-head curse you killed probably didn't die. It escaped with the first three of the Death Painting Wombs."
"What? I cut its head off with a cursed tool and it still didn't die? And what's the Death Painting Wombs?" Saki was shocked. "Also, wait, you didn't tell them I made a binding vow with Sukuna? I didn't take the finger on purpose!"
"Just cutting off the head doesn't work—you have to destroy it," Gojo replied, answering her questions one by one.
"The Death Painting Wombs are special grade cursed objects too. Stillborns from a curse user and humans, made with jujutsu."
"As for your vow with Sukuna—just think about what it was. Who the hell would believe that kind of vow?"
He did tell them. They just didn't believe him.
—Seriously, who'd believe that a girl made a binding vow with the King of Curses just to erase two marks off her face?
"And no matter the reason, just the fact that you agreed to help Sukuna retrieve his fingers is enough to make the supervisory department seriously suspicious of you."
Saki went silent. She had nothing to say back.
"So what now?" she asked innocently.
"Nothing. Let them argue," Gojo had already given up trying. "Those old geezers have been arguing all day. It's giving me a headache."
Then he couldn't help but suggest, "Hey, Kiki-chan, why don't you go smack them all around again?"
Saki: "......"
No, if she just randomly stormed the supervisory department and beat everyone up, then she'd basically be confirming she was the big bad villain.
"I need a reason to beat someone up, at least."
"Just say you're in a bad mood today."
Saki: "......"
Okay, that sounds even more like a villain move—like, the kind you can't even redeem later.
"Gojo-sensei, please stop messing around." Saki was a little exasperated.
Gojo shrugged and didn't keep pushing her to go throw punches, but still stuck to his original plan, "Let them argue. I'm curious to see what they end up deciding."
"Anyway, I already used 'keeping an eye on you' as an excuse to sneak out."
Saki: "......"
So that was the real point this whole time.
She had just been asking what he planned to do so she could cooperate, but if he didn't have a plan, then she wasn't going to bother either.
If it wasn't for the fact that she didn't want to drag him into trouble, she wouldn't even care. If worse came to worst, she'd just pay for the damages—or beat someone up.
So the two of them hit the same wavelength and decided to just give up on caring.
After dinner, Gojo Satoru, who hadn't slept at all the night before, decided to head back and crash immediately. But just as he stood up to leave, his eyes landed on the flowerpot by the window, and he curiously walked over.
He casually picked it up.
He hadn't had time to really look at it yesterday, but now that he did, he noticed the seed inside felt somewhat similar to a Cursed Womb, though clearly different. The cursed energy inside was weak but steady—and seemed to be growing slowly.
Could it be some kind of survival trick that curse spirit used? Like, regenerating through this method?
But at this rate, it'd take a hundred years to be reborn as a special grade again. If it tried to emerge now, it'd be at most grade three.
Since he was just standing there holding the pot and staring, the others in the living room all glanced over. Mahito looked particularly nervous on behalf of his "teammate."
"Mr. Gojo, is something wrong?" Saki leaned in, curious.
"I don't think this thing is gonna sprout," Gojo replied honestly.
"Oh, then just throw it away." Saki lost interest instantly.
Gojo was about to say they could give it a few more days, but before he could get the words out, he noticed a fluctuation in the seed's cursed energy.
It... seemed like it could understand what they were saying.
He quickly changed his tone and said, "Let's give it one more night. If it still hasn't sprouted by tomorrow morning, then just exorcise it."
The seed gave off cursed energy again—like it had just been spooked.
After successfully scaring the curse, Gojo cheerfully put the pot back on the windowsill, turned around, and headed out. "Kiki-chan, I'm going back to sleep. I'll be here again for breakfast tomorrow."
"Sure," the girl replied casually.
After Gojo left, Saki and Saitama lazily flopped onto the couch to watch TV, while Uraume went to the kitchen to clean up.
Mahito pretended to help and followed, and the two silently exchanged information through just a few looks.
Once Uraume finished washing the dishes, they came back out and calmly said, "Lady Kiki, we're low on fruit. I'm going out to buy more—do you want anything in particular?"
"No kiwis, anything else is fine—you decide," Saki said, waving her hand.
"Understood," Uraume replied respectfully.
"I wanna go out for a bit too. I'll go with Uraume," Mahito chimed in.
Because of the binding vow, he could only leave the apartment on his own if the girl gave him permission.
"Go, go." Saki waved him off again.
So Mahito followed Uraume out the door. He didn't really have anything to do outside—it was just easier to talk out there.
Hanami was in terrible shape right now. He needed to help him out a little.
"Uraume, do me a favor."
"Hanami can absorb the life force of nearby plants and convert it into cursed energy."
"Tomorrow morning, while Saki's still asleep, take Hanami with you when you go grocery shopping. Find a spot with lots of plants."
...
The next morning, Saki let out a loud gasp when she saw the little white flower blooming on the windowsill.
"Oh my god, oh my god, it actually bloomed!"
When Gojo came up again to scrounge breakfast, she immediately called him over to take a look.
Gojo wasn't surprised at all that the seed had flowered. Seeing it, he just smiled and said, "Looks pretty ordinary to me. Doesn't seem worth keeping."
Hanami: "......"
Hanami felt like dying, but in order not to get exorcised, he put in the work. The white flower in the pot slowly shifted to a pale blue.
"Whoa! It can change colors too!" Saki gasped again in excitement.
Who could say no to a flower that changes color on its own?
