The King of Curses Can't Stop Me from Becoming an Idol Ch. 67
"Keep going forward—he's outside the curtain," Sukuna suddenly said.
"You mean Kenjaku's out there?" Saki asked, confirming.
"Go. You'll see something interesting." Sukuna actually sounded like he was looking forward to it.
Saki hesitated for a second, but ultimately decided to follow his lead. The curtain blocked ordinary people from getting out, but not sorcerers.
She made it outside with no trouble—and then saw something she could hardly believe.
Kenjaku was talking to Mahito. The two of them looked completely calm, not tense at all. It was obvious they knew each other.
"Mahito?" she said in disbelief.
Kenjaku and Mahito were both caught off guard when she suddenly came bursting out from inside the curtain. Both of them froze in shock—but while Kenjaku managed to stay composed, Mahito looked like he was about to break down on the spot.
"I can explain," Mahito said instinctively, taking two steps to the side like he could somehow distance himself from Kenjaku.
"Mahito, what are you waiting for?" Kenjaku suddenly said. "This is our best chance to take her out."
Mahito: "......"
This damn bastard—don't drag him into it!
Mahito broke out in a cold sweat—he had definitely seen it before coming out.
—Saki could already use cursed energy.
Which meant, if the girl punched with her full strength right now, she could send him straight to the Grim Reaper in one hit. And with her speed, there was no way he could dodge it.
Kenjaku definitely understood that too. On the surface, he sounded like he was ready to risk everything, but in reality, there had to be another reason. He clearly wasn't trying to team up with Mahito to take her down.
So what was he trying to do?
In a split second, Mahito figured it out.
Sure, Saki could take him out with one punch. But from what he knew about her, and based on the bond they'd built recently, she probably wouldn't kill him outright—just beat him until he was nearly dead.
Kenjaku definitely left himself a backup plan. He was probably trying to use this as an opportunity to absorb him.
"Mahito, are you with Kenjaku? Have you been lying to me this whole time?" Saki asked calmly.
But that calmness felt like the kind that came right before a storm.
"Mahito, your cover's blown. There's no way she's letting you walk away from this," Kenjaku kept trying to persuade him. "Do it now. Just hold her off for thirty seconds—I've got a way to hurt her."
As he spoke, he summoned a cursed spirit, clearly planning to start a fight right then and there, giving neither of them time to think or explain.
Seeing him make a move, Saki didn't hesitate and was ready to strike back.
In that split-second, Mahito spun around and turned his arm into a blade, stabbing it clean through the chest of the person next to him—betraying his teammate without a second thought.
Saki froze. Kenjaku froze too.
But Kenjaku recovered quickly. Even though he hadn't expected Mahito to flip sides so suddenly, he still managed to shield his vital organs in time.
The next second, Mahito was sent flying by the cursed spirit Kenjaku had summoned.
Saki snapped out of it and immediately followed up with a punch that sent Kenjaku flying too.
This time, she barely held back. His whole chest caved in from the hit, and his body slammed into a concrete utility pole, snapping it in half.
That kind of hit should've taken him out completely. But the man on the ground stood up calmly—despite his crushed chest and mangled flesh.
"Yeah, I really shouldn't have shown up in front of you," Kenjaku couldn't help but sigh. His voice was full of reluctant admiration and resignation.
"How interesting. That's not his real body," Sukuna spoke again from within the domain.
He always acted on a whim. That was why he hadn't told the girl Mahito's true identity and why he suddenly decided to let her witness Mahito's betrayal firsthand. Even though Kenjaku's plan would've benefited him, he still casually wrecked it just like that.
"Then where's his real body?" Saki asked right away.
"How should I know," Sukuna replied, then ordered, "He's got one of my fingers. Go get it back."
"My real body's not here," Kenjaku actually answered without hesitation. He even pulled out the finger he had been hiding in his clothes. "I only came to deliver the finger."
"What are you trying to do?" Saki frowned.
"I want to advance the evolution of all humanity. I want to create things that are beyond my control. I want to explore the full potential of cursed energy," Kenjaku started going off passionately. "You know, whether it's cursed spirits, sorcerers, or non-sorcerers, they're all just—"
"Yeah, no one has time to listen to your crap," Saki cut him off flatly.
"Alright then." Kenjaku shrugged like he was giving up, then smiled with a strange, knowing look. "But I believe you'll be the one to fulfill my dream soon enough."
As he spoke, his body began to disintegrate—just like how a cursed spirit turned to dust after being exorcised. The four fingers he had been holding fell to the ground.
Saki walked over and picked up the fingers. She tried to casually stuff them into her pocket, only to realize her performance outfit didn't have any. So, she had no choice but to just hold them.
At that moment, Mahito, who'd been dragging his feet dealing with the cursed spirit nearby, finally walked over. He had already figured out how to explain himself.
"Kiki, I actually—"
"Go help the wounded," Saki cut him off and ordered. "Save your explanation for later. There should be a lot of injured people in the curtain. Go help them first."
Because of the binding vow, she knew he couldn't harm regular people, so she wasn't in a rush to deal with him right now.
Mahito let out a breath of relief when he heard that and immediately rushed off to help, muttering curses at Kenjaku in his head the whole way.
That bastard really was trying to get him killed. Good thing he reacted fast—if he'd been seriously wounded, who knew when or where Kenjaku's real body would pop out and absorb him?
He hadn't gotten far when a loud boom echoed from nearby.
A massive meteor appeared above the Tokyo Dome, but before it could hit the ground, Saitama shattered it with a single punch. The falling debris still smashed the roof, leaving it full of holes.
That was Jogo's Domain Amplification attack.
Mahito instantly decided to head that way—he wanted to see if Jogo was still alive.
