The King of Curses Can't Stop Me from Becoming an Idol Ch. 70
Mahito was beyond uncomfortable, feeling like there was a knife constantly hanging over his head.
Meanwhile, Saitama decided that food was more important than sleep and sat there calmly, waiting for Uraume to whip up a big feast.
At one point, he remembered he still had Dagon and Jogo in his pocket. He casually pulled the two unfortunates out—then placed the now-tiny flame-shaped Jogo on the stovetop, trying to use him as a gas burner, and tossed Dagon into a pot, intending to make seafood soup out of him.
Everyone: "......"
Jogo was doing okay, but Dagon was losing it—flailing around in the soup as hard as he could. In the end, it was Mahito who rescued him.
"This little octopus is kinda cute. How about we keep him as a pet?" Mahito suggested, doing his best to act casual.
Saitama glanced at the octopus, trying to figure out what exactly was cute about it.
Dagon felt his scalp go numb under the stare, but in order to save his own life, he nervously raised two of his tentacles and made a heart shape.
Life was tough. Even a cursed spirit had to learn to perform.
"Fine, we'll keep him. Ki-chan would probably like it anyway," Saitama said, giving up on eating him.
Mahito let out a breath of relief and asked Choso to go buy a fish tank. Once they had it, they put Dagon inside.
After settling Dagon in, Mahito looked around—the potted Hanami, Dagon in the fish tank, Jogo still sitting on the stovetop—and then looked at himself. The sad realization hit him: all his cursed spirit buddies had been completely wrecked here.
If he'd known it'd end like this, he never would've followed Kenjaku in the first place.
But now wasn't the time to be emo. What mattered most was figuring out how to save himself. So he went back to nervously waiting for the girl to wake up.
Saki had no idea someone was stressing out over her. She'd already drifted off into a deep, peaceful sleep.
Thanks to her cheerful, sunny personality, she'd always slept well and rarely had dreams. And if she did, they were usually nice ones.
But this time, she had a nightmare—something that almost never happened.
The dream was blurry and broken, but she could vaguely see countless people coming at her. In the dream, she was cold and ruthless, killing them all without mercy.
Severed limbs were scattered everywhere, and blood covered the ground. She could almost smell the heavy scent of iron in the air.
And instead of feeling scared or disturbed by the scene, her dream self felt wildly excited. Unlike the blurry visuals, she could hear everything crystal clear—the thunder of her enemies' heartbeats, the sound of blood rushing through their veins.
She was fully enjoying the slaughter.
While Saki was trapped in that strange, unsettling dream, Ryomen Sukuna—who'd been resting—also drifted into an odd dream.
In it, he seemed really young, clinging to a teenage boy's leg and bawling his eyes out, demanding to be carried.
Sukuna: "......"
Saki probably had a nightmare or something, because she didn't sleep long—just four hours before waking up, and she had zero interest in going back to bed.
—Honestly, who'd be in a good mood after dreaming about turning into a psycho who enjoyed killing?
She didn't think too hard about the dream. After all the chaos Kenjaku had stirred up, she figured it was normal to have some messed-up dreams.
Ryomen Sukuna, though, had also dreamed—and unlike her, he immediately realized something was off. There was no way he'd have a dream like that under normal circumstances.
He guessed what he saw must've been the girl's memories. He wasn't sure what caused it, so he decided to wait and see. For now, there were two main possibilities.
One: Saki's body had reached its limit.
Normally, after a cursed object successfully takes over a body, it gains access to the host's memories. But since the girl's body had unusually strong resistance, he hadn't gotten any memories at all—so if he was receiving them now, it might mean her body was starting to break down.
Two: the cursed finger he ate earlier had something wrong with it.
He'd been so confident back then, totally unbothered by any curse it might carry and just swallowed it down. Thinking back on it now, Kenjaku had created all sorts of twisted stuff—he really should've been more cautious.
If it was the first case, then great—it'd be good news for him.
But if it was the second...
Kenjaku was going to pay.
Saki got up, washed her face in the bathroom, and finally remembered Mahito. She immediately went out to find him for a talk.
In the living room, Choso and his brothers were nowhere to be seen. Only Uraume and Mahito were there—one diligently scrubbing the floor, and the other staring blankly out the window.
To be fair, ever since Uraume showed up, the house had been spotless.
"Mahito, come over here and explain yourself," Saki called him to the couch.
Mahito instantly had that "I knew this was coming" kind of feeling. He obediently walked over and sat down, his nerves slowly giving way to confidence.
Saki was the only one here. That pain-in-the-ass Gojo Satoru wasn't around. He was pretty sure he could BS his way out of this.
"What's your relationship with Kenjaku?" Saki cut right to the chase.
Mahito was just about to close his eyes and make something up when—
Knock knock.
Uraume went to open the door without needing to be told, and Gojo's bright white hair instantly came into view.
Mahito: "..."
God really wanted him dead.
"Uraume, go make me something to eat," Gojo said casually as he strolled right in, instantly bossing Uraume around like it was his own place.
Uraume silently went to the kitchen.
Saki saw who it was and quickly asked with concern, "Mr. Gojo, you're back. How's the situation over there?"
When she'd left, the rescue operation was done, but the poisonous gas inside the barrier was still lingering, with no solution in sight.
And the incident had blown up so massively—news coverage was everywhere. She had no idea how they were going to explain it all to the public.
"The poison gas problem's been taken care of. Later, the government's gonna put out an announcement saying it was a terrorist attack," Gojo replied, already knowing what she wanted to ask.
"That's good." Saki finally relaxed a bit. She figured she'd ask her manager to put out a statement later—let fans know she was safe and announce a temporary break from work.
