The King of Curses Can't Stop Me from Becoming an Idol Ch. 25
Ten minutes later, in the private room of the barbecue restaurant, Saki and Saitama were grilling meat enthusiastically.
Mahito sat between the two, feeling like a fish caught on dry land—awkward, uncomfortable, and painfully aware of every moment.
He had no choice. Ryomen Sukuna, residing inside the girl, knew the truth. If she ever found out, he was done for.
Saki, completely oblivious to Mahito's tension, noticed that he wasn't grilling any meat himself and assumed that he didn't know how to. Eager to help, she began teaching him.
Sukuna, unable to resist, sneered, "Idiot."
"You're the idiot! Why suddenly insult me?" Saki retorted, clearly not happy.
Mahito broke into a sweat at hearing this, relieved that Sukuna didn't seem intent on exposing him. In an effort to appear more natural, he reluctantly followed the siblings' example and began grilling some meat.
"By the way, Mahito, do you know a cursed spirit with a volcano-like head?" Saki suddenly asked. "Also, one with tree branches growing out of its eyes and another that looks like an octopus?"
"I don't know them. Why?" Mahito forced a smile, trying to sound casual.
"Well, those three cursed spirits don't know what they want but keep bothering me," Saki complained. "They attacked me this afternoon."
"Are you okay?" Mahito asked, taking the opportunity to ask about her well-being.
"Of course, I'm fine. They can't beat me." Saki waved her hand dismissively.
Mahito wanted to ask about his teammates, but he feared that Saki would sense something off if he did. He decided to wait for her to bring it up on her own.
But Saki didn't continue the conversation. She had just asked casually. If Mahito knew them, she would ask where they were hiding; if not, then it didn't matter.
The first batch of meat was almost done, and Saki cheerfully reminded, "Hurry and eat, or it'll get cold."
Then, as if just realizing, she asked, "By the way, can cursed spirits eat? You must be able to, right?"
Mahito froze. He was already here, and now she was asking that?
It wasn't that it was late for her to ask, really. In their world, most of the strange creatures needed to eat regularly, so she just assumed cursed spirits did too.
"We can eat, but it's not necessary." Mahito answered truthfully.
"Well, that's good." Saki let out a relieved sigh. When she saw her brother snatching the piece of meat she had just grilled, she quickly went to grab it back. "That's mine!"
"Whoever grabs it first gets it." Saitama, unbothered by the heat, quickly popped it into his mouth.
Saki immediately went after the meat Saitama was grilling.
The fun of grilling meat was in fighting for it, after all. The siblings started playfully bickering, quickly finishing all the grilled meat.
Mahito sat between them, feeling like a fish on a hook. It was unbearable, like being stuck in a painful, awkward position.
Still, grilling meat seemed like the better option.
He silently focused on grilling his own meat, and by the end of the meal, all the grilled meat had disappeared into the siblings' stomachs.
At least on the surface, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.
Once the meal ended, Mahito finally found an excuse to slip away from the siblings. Saki, however, leisurely headed home with Saitama, where they relaxed, took a bath, did skincare, and applied face masks.
But that tranquility came to an end at 10 PM, when Saki received a call from Gojo just as she was getting ready for bed.
On the other end of the line, the man's voice was light and cheerful.
"Kiki-chan, your peaceful life is about to end. Jujutsu Inspector General has taken notice of you."
What! What! What!
Saki felt totally off and quickly pressed, "What's going on?"
"Did you get attacked by cursed spirits this afternoon?" Gojo asked with a smile.
"Yeah, how did you know?" Saki asked, confused.
"I got a report. The Window department over at Hirano found cursed residue. Judging by the cursed energy at the scene, it was multiple special-grade cursed spirits. Once I heard that, I guessed it had to be you," Gojo explained briefly.
"Although the cursed spirits have left, it's serious. They're investigating this, and it's only a matter of time before they find out it was you."
"When that happens, they definitely won't be able to hide the fact you're possessed."
"What's the Window? It's so far out in the suburbs—how could they find out?" Saki was really surprised.
She thought this would be easy to handle, just like before—hand it over to the company and they'd keep it secret.
"The Window is a department made up of non-sorcerers who can see curses. They're specifically responsible for finding and reporting curses. You're unlucky; a staff member just happened to be out there on a field trip," Gojo said. He had suspected something was up and went to ask about it.
"Alright." Saki sighed, then humbly asked, "Mr. Gojo, what do you think I should do now?"
"Jujutsu Headquarters should send someone to investigate you soon. Try negotiating with them first," Gojo suggested.
"What if I can't come to an agreement? Can I just punch them?" Saki's best way to solve problems was still with her fists. "Would that make things hard for you?"
Gojo didn't directly say yes or no, but hinted, "I'm going on a business trip for a while. I have a cute student training overseas I want to check on."
"If something happens in Tokyo, I definitely won't be able to fly back to stop it."
Saki: "..."
She got it—that basically meant he wasn't going to stop her. Remembering what he said before—
"What are you afraid of? They can't beat you anyway."
That wasn't just not stopping her, it was straight-up encouraging her to use violence.
"Alright then, I'm relieved." She nodded with ease.
Gojo did support the girl using violence to solve problems. After all, knowing how stubborn the Jujutsu Inspectors were, unless she showed absolute power, they wouldn't break their existing rules.
As for why he was going overseas, he wouldn't admit it was because he wanted to see those old guys from the Jujutsu Headquarters get beaten up.
If he stayed, the moment the department's people found they couldn't beat her, they'd definitely pin the blame on him first—no way.
"Oh, Mr. Gojo, can I say I'm like Yuji, that I just swallowed the finger but wasn't possessed?" Saki suddenly asked. "Wouldn't they care less about me then?"
